I READ A BOOK.

It’s official, I read a book. I read an entire book in one day. Not a children’s story (in case that’s what you were thinking) but, an actual, 400 page adult book. I cannot remember the last time I was able to complete a book. I have tried so many times to get back into reading, but I always forget to continue reading (which is how you actually finish a book if you were wondering.)

I don’t know what I did to deserve this. Maybe it was the past few sleepless nights i’ve had with a sick little one? Whatever it was that told the reading gods that I need to have some “me” time and got me to pick up a book, bless it.

It was rather strange how it all occurred actually. I thought i’d get rid of some old books, seeing as we are moving soon. So, I walked into the book store dropped 40 or so books on the table and was told to wait 20 minutes. Well…waiting is no fun so I began to explore. Of course, for the first time in waiting history they called my name after 60 seconds. I ran back with a glorious feeling waiting to accept the 100 dollar bill I had planned on receiving. “We can offer you $8 ma’am.”( I mean I was selling some good books, I thought ‘I’, I mean ‘they’ deserved more.) Anyway…

I thought to myself, “What can I possibly buy with $8?” After calculating all of my options (2 Starbucks drinks, OPI nail polish, dollar tree toys, or maybe a small  bag of popcorn at the movie theatre?) I decided to spend wisely and invest in my brain.

I grabbed the first book I saw in the newer book section and went with it (The font was a pretty blue color, which is why I chose it.) Of course I still owed them $6 dollars. What a rip off, I give them 40 books and I can’t even afford 1 in return.

The next day I dove into the book at any chance I got. Before Lo got up, both nap times, while making dinner, and after she went to bed. Miraculously I finished it (although I got nothing else done that day.) I don’t know if it was because it was that good of a book or if it was because I knew I would forget to finish it if I didn’t complete it all in one day. Whatever it was, I did it. And for that I am proud!

Of course, that proud feeling was somewhat ruined when I decided to look up the author and realized she writes ‘Young adult fiction.’ Next time I go I am doing a little more research, any suggestions?

It was still a pretty decent book for anyone looking to buy for their teens….
